Terms and Conditions for Pre-purchased and Last Minute Additional Baggage Allowance

  1. Passengers holding Singapore Airlines tickets as identified by the “618” prefix in the ticket number may purchase Pre-Purchased/Last Minute additional baggage allowance for all flights operated by Singapore Airlines. For flights where multiple carriers are involved (i.e.. flights involving SIA and other airlines – either under a codeshare or interline arrangement), passengers may purchase any excess baggage only upon check-in at the airport of embarkation.
  2. Additional baggage is confirmed only upon full payment of the additional baggage fees. An e-payment receipt will be issued for the payment. You should present this additional baggage e-payment receipt at the airport check-in counter on departure. The receipt will be available to print on singaporeair.com (Manage Booking) on confirmation of purchase and will be sent by email to the address specified during the purchase process.
  3. For Singapore Airlines flight itineraries originating/commencing from India destinations, India GST (K3) tax will be applied on top of your pre-purchased additional baggage fees. This is in accordance with local regulatory requirements. The breakdown of the tax will be shown on the e-payment receipt.
  4. If a passenger has pre-purchased additional baggage and subsequently changes flight date and/or time with no change in origin/destination, they are eligible, at any time prior to departure, to have their additional baggage purchase transferred to the new flight date/time with no additional payments, upon request at the Singapore Airlines Contact Centre. 
  5. If a passenger has pre-purchased additional baggage and subsequently changes their itinerary’s origin and/or destination points, they may have their additional baggage transferred to their new flights provided their new flights are in the same band(s) as the original flights, and in the same baggage concept (weight or piece concept). For example, if the original itinerary was for travel from Singapore to Paris, passenger may have their baggage transferred if they change their destination to Frankfurt or Amsterdam, but not if they change it to New York as it is in a different band, and also because flights to New York will be on piece concept whereas flights between Singapore and Europe are on weight concept. This transfer may be requested at any time prior to departure at the Singapore Airlines Contact Centre. 
  6. If a passenger has pre-purchased additional baggage, and subsequently changes their origin and/or destination, such that their new flight(s) are in different bands or different concept (weight or piece concept) from their original flight(s), they may request a refund of their pre-purchased baggage from the Singapore Airlines Contact Centre. 
  7. Each passenger is limited to one online purchase of either: (a) Pre-Purchased ("Pre-Purchased", defined as purchased more than 48 hours to departure. This is valid only for the flight and date shown on the receipt): or (b) Last-Minute ("Last-Minute", defined as purchased within 48 hours up to 6 hours prior to departure. This is valid only for the flight and date shown on the receipt additional baggage allowance.
  8. A discounted rate is applicable for online purchases, whether Pre-Purchased or Last Minute, of additional baggage allowance, applicable only when purchased on Singaporeair.com or via the Singapore Airlines Contact Centre. Any other additional baggage purchased, including purchase made upon check-in at the airport of departure, or at any Singapore Airlines office, will be charged at standard additional baggage rates.
  9. For travel to destinations where the weight concept applies, passengers may purchase either Pre-Purchased or Last-Minute additional weight allowances in units of 5 kg up to a maximum of 100 kg per flight.
  10. For travel to destinations where the piece concept applies, passengers may purchase any combination of the following items: (i) a maximum of two (2) additional pieces on top of the free baggage allowance; (ii) additional 9kg for one and/or both pieces of their free baggage allowance; and (iii) an oversized allowance for one and/or both pieces of their free baggage allowance. Each passenger can purchase any of the items in the combination only once and will enjoy the discounts accorded to Pre-Purchased or Last-Minute additional baggage purchases respectively.
  11. Last-Minute baggage cannot be purchased after passenger has performed early check-in at the airport counter. Any excess additional baggage amount will be charged at standard airport additional baggage rates.
  12. Any excess of additional baggage over the purchased (Pre-Purchased or Last-Minute) additional baggage amount will be charged at standard additional baggage rates upon presentation of baggage at the departure airport.
  13. Some airports allow only a maximum weight of 32kg per bag. Please refer to www.singaporeair.com or other authoritative sources to ascertain if the airport you are departing from has baggage weight restrictions.
  14. No mileage points will be awarded for any excess of additional baggage allowance costs paid.
  15. Singapore Airlines reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to revise its additional baggage rates, as well as the terms and conditions associated with the purchase of additional baggage allowance at any time with or without prior notice.
