Singapore Airlines and EgyptAir expand codeshare agreement

19 May 2009 - From 1 June, Singapore Airlines’ customers will be able to enjoy daily flights between Singapore and Cairo as a result of an expanded codeshare agreement with EgyptAir.

Singapore Airlines flies four times weekly from Singapore to Cairo, via Dubai.  Now, customers also have the option of travelling on any of Singapore Airlines’ daily flights to Dubai and connecting on EgyptAir’s services from Dubai to Cairo, on the three days when the Airline does not operate flights to Cairo.  Travellers may similarly make use of the connections on the return trip. Combined with the Airline’s four times weekly services, the expansion of the existing codeshare arrangements with EgyptAir, a Star Alliance partner, allows Singapore Airlines to offer daily flights to Cairo.

In addition, travellers from Singapore will be able to connect on EgyptAir’s network to destinations such as Luxor and Sharm el-Sheikh, via Cairo.  The agreement also enables EgyptAir’s customers to make use of codeshare flights on Singapore Airlines from Singapore onwards to Bangkok, Sydney and Melbourne.  This is over and above existing codeshare flights on Singapore Airlines between Singapore and Cairo.

For customers, the codeshare arrangements will provide a wider choice of frequencies operated by both Singapore Airlines and EgyptAir.  With more options will come a wider variety of fares, which can be booked online, at singaporeair.com, and through travel agents worldwide.

Tickets under the new codeshare agreement are available for sale now.

“We are pleased to announce the expansion of the existing codeshare agreement with EgyptAir, our Star Alliance partner,” said Mr Huang Cheng Eng, Singapore Airlines Executive Vice President Marketing & the Regions.

“The expanded agreement attests to the long-standing and growing partnership between Singapore Airlines and EgyptAir.  It also demonstrates the airlines’ commitment to providing customers with greater flexibility for their travels between Singapore and Cairo, and maximising the opportunities offered by our combined network.”

Details of flight times and flight codes for the various additional codeshare services are shown in the attachment.  Customers are advised to check singaporeair.com for updates to flight schedules.  All Singapore Airlines flights to Cairo depart from Terminal 2 at Changi Airport.
