Singapore Airlines starts flights to Kuwait
15 March 2009 - Singapore Airlines started operating flights between Kuwait and Singapore, via Abu Dhabi today. SQ458 departed Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 2 at 1305hrs and is expected to arrive in Kuwait at 1830hrs (all times local).
To celebrate this special occasion, His Excellency Abdulaziz Ahmed Al-Adwani, Ambassador of Kuwait to Singapore, joined our customers and staff in witnessing the commencement of the flights. Customers were also treated to refreshments and a special gift to commemorate the event at the gate-hold room before boarding.
For the return leg of the trip, SQ457 will depart from Kuwait at 2120hrs, and arrive in Singapore at 1230hrs the next day. Both legs of the flight will operate via Abu Dhabi.
This new four times weekly service will operate on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, using the Boeing 777-200 aircraft.
Kuwait City is an interesting destination – a metropolis in a land of desert plains, with sights and attractions layered with modern history. A visit to Kuwait City might bring you to the many excellent museums, the combed beaches, exotic restaurants, modern shopping complexes and marinas, and long, lazy retreats at new beach resorts.
“With the launch of our four times weekly service to Kuwait, our customers can visit Kuwait with much ease. The start of our services to Kuwait at this time emphasizes the value and importance of tourism, trade and business links between Kuwait and Singapore. We believe this new air link will contribute to a strengthening of these relationships over time,” said Mr Huang Cheng Eng, Singapore Airlines Executive Vice-President Marketing and the Regions.
Besides Kuwait, Singapore Airlines flies to four other cities in the Middle East, including Jeddah and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, and Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the UAE.
Singapore is well positioned as a gateway to the Southeast Asian region and our customers from Kuwait will be well served by Singapore Airlines’ extensive network. Kuwaiti visitors can look forward to seamless connections to countries in the region, like Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand, or even the Southwest Pacific, after making a stopover here in Singapore. Most of these Southeast Asian destinations are just a few short hours away by flight.
The launch of the Kuwait - Abu Dhabi - Singapore service means that Singapore Airlines will operate seven times weekly from Abu Dhabi (thrice weekly from Jeddah and four times weekly from Kuwait).
