Aircraft Maintenance Manager

Job Profile

The Aircraft Maintenance Manager oversees daily operations and coordination of technical handling activities across assigned stations, ensuring compliance with Singapore Airworthiness Requirements. Responsibilities include managing services provided by contracted Technical Handling Agents (THA) and Ground Handling Agents (GHA), ensuring adherence to standards, safety, and on-time performance.

The role involves providing license certification and maintenance releases for SIA aircraft as required during aircraft delays or AOG situations to minimize downtime. Additionally, the Aircraft Maintenance Manager supports spare parts sourcing, manages inventory, and maintains relationships with stakeholders including local authorities, airlines, vendors, and OEMs. Reporting duties encompass tracking delays, conducting post-mortems, and submitting monthly progress reports to Engineering Head Office.

Key Responsibilities
  • To monitor, control, plan and support the daily aircraft technical handling to ensure it is in accordance with the Singapore Airworthiness Requirements.
  • To manage and ensure that the services provided by SIA contracted Technical Handling Agents (THA) and Ground Handling Agents (GHA) to meet SIA’s set standards and the services are safe, on schedule and key performance indices are achieved and maintained.
  • To provide license certification and maintenance release to SIA aircraft as and when required by Engineering Head Office.
  • To provide close coordination between THA, GHA and Engineering Head Office during aircraft delays or AOG situations, provide all necessary support and to intervene as necessary, so as to return aircraft to serviceable condition in the shortest possible time.
  • To support Engineering Head Office to source for spares and resources.
  • To manage station's aircraft spares inventory, provide monthly report and recommendation for movement and replenishment of spares in line with Head Office Operating Plan.
  • To network, maintain contacts and establish good working relationships with local authorities, other airlines and THAs, and as well as aircraft component vendors and OEMs.
  • To maintain records report on delays that have occurred provide post-mortems and analysis on the causes of delays and offer recommendations to avoid recurrences.
  • To provide monthly station report on work progress, areas for improvement, areas of concern that need Head Office interventions, spares movement, operating budget situation and other information relating to or affecting the travel industry.
  • To perform regular station audit as required by Regional Maintenance Manager or Engineering Head Office.
  • To perform regular audit of the THA of his station and his group of stations, to ensure the THA proper maintaining and upkeeping of all relevant aircraft technical documents, validity of the engineer’s training, licences and approvals, serviceability of equipment, etc.
  • To support Engineering Head Office to source, negotiate, evaluate, and audit the capability of THAs during RFP.
  • To plan and prepare annual operating budget and manage within approved operating budget.
  • To upkeep condition of department facilities, equipment, tools and vehicles to the set standard.
  • General administration, supervision, control and discipline of staff.
  • Any other duties as assigned by Regional Maintenance Manager or Engineering Head Office.

Job Requirements

  • Holder of CAAS SAR-66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence (AML) preferred, with minimum 5 years aviation experiences as a Licence Aircraft Engineer on at least 2 of the aircraft types operated by SIA in a line maintenance environment.

  • Holder of foreign AML must satisfy the requirement stipulated in CAAS Advisory Circular AC-66-10(Rev3) and be able to convert to CAAS SAR-66 AML.
  • A good knowledge of Singapore Air Navigation Order, Singapore Airworthiness Requirement, and Quality Systems Requirement.
  • Demonstrate a good knowledge of the aircraft types operated by SIA and is familiar with the technical issues of the aircraft type.
  • Familiarity with preparing and managing operating budgets is ideal.
  • Self-reliant and takes ownership for tasks assigned.
  • Should be self-motivated and be a team player working towards service excellence.
  • Knowledge of airline industry is not essential but will be considered beneficial.
  • Willing to travel to cities in India to engage partners and leads.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment and under time pressure.
  • Ability to work odd and extended hours.
