You may have to carry large or heavy items, such as sporting equipment or musical instruments, with you at times when you fly. Most of these items can be checked in or carried on board. Upon arrival, the checked baggage may come out on a different carousel from your normal baggage. Do seek advice from the airport staff and/or look for the odd-sized baggage signanges at the airport.
Odd-sized baggage should not exceed 200cm (length) x 75cm (width) x 80cm (height) in dimension. If the item(s) exceed(s) the dimension, please contact Singapore Airlines Cargo.
Your sporting equipment counts towards your checked baggage allowance. If you exceed this allowance, the usual additional baggage charges will apply.
If you’re travelling to or from Canada and the USA, most sporting equipment is treated as one piece of baggage. A canoe is treated as two pieces of baggage. If you’re travelling to or from Canada, your sporting equipment will be charged according to the baggage allowance that applies to your journey.
In line with local Occupational Health and Safety rules, we are unable to accept any item above 32kg as checked baggage, and these items may have to be re-packed or sent as cargo.

Please note that bowling ball cleaners with high amounts of acetone and alcohol of over 70%, either by volume or weight, will not be accepted.

Your musical instrument should be properly stored in a hard and/or rigid protective case that is designed for transportation. Soft cases are not recommended. For string instruments, we recommend that you also loosen the strings.
Depending on the size and weight, your musical instrument can be a checked baggage, cabin-seat baggage, or cabin baggage.
Checked Baggage
Musical instruments, such as cello and full-sized guitar, that exceed the standard cabin baggage allowance should be checked in, and would be counted as part of your checked baggage allowance. If you exceed the free baggage allowance, the usual additional baggage charges will apply.
Cabin-seat Baggage
If you prefer not to check in your musical instrument, you can purchase an additional seat, and we will secure your musical instrument to it.
To carry your instrument as a cabin-seat baggage, it should not exceed the following size and weight limitations:

Cabin Baggage
If you are travelling with a small musical instrument such as a violin, you can carry it with you as a cabin baggage, which will be counted as part of your standard cabin baggage allowance.
To qualify as a cabin baggage, the sum of length, width and height of your musical instrument (including the case) should not exceed 115cm, and should not weigh more than 7kg.

Please make sure that the Certificate of Death and the Certificate of Cremation are with the passenger carrying the cremated ashes. This applies to both human's and pet's ashes.
If the ashes are carried as carry-on baggage, full security procedures (with X-ray) will be applied at the airport security point. Hence, urns made of thick material (e.g. metal) should be avoided as it would inhibit the ability to see its contents during x-ray screening, leading to risk of non-acceptance.

We accept your wedding dress as a carry-on or checked baggage. For carry-on baggage, it has to be within the maximum dimension and weight allowance for carry-on baggage. An extra seat can also be purchased to accommodate it.
