Travel to Australia and enjoy the trip of a lifetime

Sydney Opera House
Enthusiasm & Lightness in Sydney

For many travelers, Australia's largest and best-known city is the first stop and starting point of their trip through Australia. A direct flight from Frankfurt will bring you to the impressive world metropolis on the southeast coast.

In Sydney, hectic city life and relaxed beach life merge. Even bankers take off their suits after a day at the office, just to go surfing. You too, could spend a casual day at Bondi Beach with its white-sand beach and picturesque backdrop.

Of course, a trip to Sydney includes a visit to its world-famous landmark: The Sydney Opera House, which aesthetically dominates the entire cityscape with its shell-shaped bowls. The distinctive building is the most photographed motif in all of Australia and a true masterpiece of architecture. And nothing comes close to experiencing it with your own two eyes!

Another highlight is a walk across the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge. The bridge offers a spectacular vantage point over the harbor and the Opera House. It is affectionately called the "coat hanger" by the locals - you can immediately see why.
The Darling Harbour district is a very popular place to take a relaxed stroll along the waterfront. There you will find interesting stores, a wide range of restaurants and some of the most important tourist spots like Madame Tussauds.

To top it off, we recommend a visit to the Sydney Tower. This skyline-defining structure has an observation deck at 251 meters (830 feet). From the highest point of the city you have a breathtaking view of the beautiful surroundings.

Dreamtime Exhibition Brisbane
Culture and Nightlife in Brisbane

Brisbane is the capital of the Australian state of Queensland, located in the northeast of the country. Thanks to the subtropical climate, you can visit Brisbane and its cultural attractions any time of the year.

The city offers a remarkably large selection of concerts, theater performances, museums as well as historical buildings. The art scene in "Brissie" is also particularly present due to the many different cultural origins of the city's inhabitants.

If you like to take it a little slower, you can swim, relax, or go for a walk in the lavishly landscaped South Bank Parklands. Afterwards, go get a taste of culture at the interesting Queensland Cultural Centre.

Of course, an extensive shopping tour in the chic and modern Queen Street Mall in the CBD is not to be missed. If you want to experience the Brisbane nightlife, then the best way to do so is with a tasty drink and a live band performance in Fortitude Valley.

Adventure seekers will get their money's worth with a sunny boat tour on the great Brisbane River. Feel the fresh breeze in your face, enjoy the grand view of the city, the strikingly beautiful Story Bridge, and the impressive villas along the riverside.

Mount Coot-tha Reserve offers many beautiful spots with breathtaking views as well. Whether you explore this location by foot or by car – here you will find marvelous places to take your souvenir pictures.

You can also discover the ancient magic of the world's oldest tropical rainforests on a peaceful hike.

Great Barrier Reef
Great Barrier Reef: The largest coral reef in the world

A visit to the Great Barrier Reef should be at the top of your to-do list during your visit to Australia. 2,300 kilometers long, the Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef system in the world. This living marvel offers fantastic spots for swimming, snorkeling, diving, and sailing. The many different marine animals in the most vibrant colors amaze young and old alike.

Explore the species-rich ecosystem during a boat trip between the 74 idyllic islands of the Whitsundays. To get that “special feeling”, choose a trip on a powerful 32-meter catamaran. Tours run several times a day and end at Michaelmas Cay, a stunning reef sand island.

Dive and snorkel amid the turtles and colorful fish, relax in the sun on deck, or enjoy a tour on a glass-bottom boat. The Cay is also home to over 23 species of seabirds, which you can spot on a visit to one of the Great Barrier Reef's most important bird sanctuaries.

For those who like to explore the reef on their own, ideal areas for diving can be found especially on the Outer Reef as it has the best visibility underwater. To protect divers and snorkelers from sharks, some areas are even equipped with nets.

Coral Reef
The pink lakes of Australia

Australia is home to many spectacular natural attractions. Only few can compare to the pink lakes extending from the outback of South Australia to the coast of Western Australia.

One of the largest and most famous pink lakes is Lake Hillier. It is located on Middle Island, the largest island in the Recherche Archipelago in the state of Western Australia.

Travel 130 kilometers from Esperance and a surreal sight opens up to you: The 600-meter-long pink salt lake borders directly on the dark blue seawater of the Indian Ocean. Only a small stretch of green forest separates the pink lake from the beach. A truly unique sight! Tourists can explore the lake by boat; a short flight provides an even better view of the extraordinary scenery.

Another spectacle of colors can be experienced on Western Australia's Coral Coast. The colorful natural landscape features red cliffs, bright blue waters and more. Hutt Lagoon is a six-hour drive north of Perth and is one of the region's most exciting attractions. Depending on the time of the year, time of the day and cloud cover, the lake changes from red to pink to purple and violet. To enjoy the most intense colors, it's best to be there in the morning or at sunset.
